William Godwin's Diary


Prince Leopold of Saxe-Cobourg, uncle of the future Queen Victoria, was made king of newly-independent Belgium. To counter the fact that he was close to the British royal family, it was agreed that he would marry Louis-Philippe’s daughter Louise.
