Events

Having secured independence from Holland, the Belgian National Conference offered their throne to the duc de Nemours, second son of Louis-Philippe of France, in the hope that this would commit France to assist Belgium. However, Louis-Philippe rejected the offer on behalf of his son, aware that it could lead to war with the rest of Europe.
