William Godwin's Diary

Events

George IV began a series of tours soon after his coronation, landing in Dublin on the evening of 11 August and remaining in Ireland until 3 August. Newspapers reported that he was received well, in keeping with his new-found popularity, and often appeared without military escort. After his Irish visit he travelled to Hanover and, the following year, to Scotland.
