Prince Leopold of Saxe-Cobourg and Gotha, uncle of Queen Victoria and later Leopold I of Belgium, married Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales at Carlton House in London. Princess Charlotte was the only child of the disastrous marriage between the Prince Regent and Caroline of Brunswick.
