William Godwin's Diary

Events

Patrick Duigenan, LL.D (1734/5-1816) was a lawyer and politician, and decidedly anti-Catholic. His pamphlet A Fair Representation of the Political State of Ireland (1799) attacked Patrick Lattin, as author of the pamphlet The Case of Ireland Re-Considered (1799) for 'advancing Irish Romanists to an equality of political power in the British Empire' (p. 9). In February 1800, Lattin brought an action against the published of Duigenan's pamphlet and won damages of £500.
