Events

A treaty was signed between France and Austria. Austria, with Napoleon Bonaparte a hundred miles from Vienna, accepted the loss of the Austrian Netherlands and Lombardy but gained the Venetian territories of Istria and Dalmatia. The terms were later confirmed and extended in the treaty of Campo-Formio.
