William Godwin's Diary

Events

The Revolution Society consisted of political reformers who commemorated the Glorious Revolution of 1688 from 1788-93. They held an anniversary dinner on 4 November, the birthday of William III, which attracted hundreds of attendees. The dinner was preceded by a sermon held usually at the Old Jewry dissenting chapel. In 1789 the publication of the sermon delivered by Richard Price, A Discourse on the Love of our Country, provoked Edmund Burke’sReflections on the Revolution in France (1790).
