Samuel Hood, first Viscount Hood (1724–1816), naval officer, was appointed to the Admiralty Board to help advise Chatham, the new first lord of the Admiralty. He and Sir Peter Parker were appointed as puisne (i.e. inferior) Lords of the Admiralty, replacing Admiral Gower and Captain Brett.
