Parliament was dissolved on 3 December 1832. Mr Portman and Sir S Whalley were candidates in the Mary la Bonne (Middlesex) Metropolitan District. Portman came top of the poll, but Whalley came third and was not elected. Portman is described in the DNB as a moderate liberal.
