William Godwin's Diary


Jane 'Clair' Clairmont returned to England. Her trip was twofold: she both wanted to see her brother, Charles, and had been further encouraged by Mary Shelley, who had expressed concern for her wellbeing. She subsequently stayed with Mary until April 1829.
