William Godwin's Diary

Events

Godwin travelled to Hastings and noted that the coach broke down shortly after Sevenoaks. Godwin spent several days in Hastings - he arrived on the 25 June and departed on 1 July. On 28 June he noted ‘Sail’; and on 30 June he noted ‘boat’ with Frederick Mansel Reynolds and Joshua Robinson. It is possible that Godwin paid a brief visit to France but did not note it in his diary because he had previously been turned down for a passport (during the Peace of Amiens).
