William Godwin's Diary

Events

A hearing in the process of the owner of the Skinner Street property (Read) who ejected Godwin for non-payment of rent. On this occasion, three junior judges met following a ruling that Godwin should quit but not at what point. They ultimately declared in favour of Godwin, granting him a further period of tenancy. The connection to Hawkins is unclear but it may be that Read was simultaneously pursuing both ejectment and back-payment of rent and that Hawkins was involved in one of these cases.
