These entries relate to Godwin and his wife Mary Jane's visits to Southend-on-Sea in 1821; Britannia appears to be the name of the boat that they used to make the journey. Godwin mentioned it when Mary Jane left on 14 July and used it himself when he visited and when he returned (see 17 July and 20 July), though it is not mentioned when Mary Jane returned on 23 July.
