William Godwin's Diary

Events

Enniscorthy is in County Wexford, Charles Clairmont visited there, as is clear from his letter to Francis Place of 12 January 1816 to assess a distillery business which it had been proposed he join so as to make money. He asked Place if he would assist him by lending him the necessary capital. Place turned him down flat. See The Clairmont Correspondence, ed. Marion K. Stocking (1995), I, pp. 20-21.
