William Godwin's Diary

Events

The Stone brothers had offered to buy a half share in Godwin’s business and Godwin had energetically sought to secure the deal. However, there was a dispute about the Stone’s choice of assessor for the stock and at the last minute the deal fell through. The 'PS' may refer to Shelley but later in the same day he writes to PBS. This letter has indeed been identified as having been sent to Shelley, and the upshot of the letter is that he never wishes to see Shelley again. This makes it more likely that PS refers to someone other than Shelley.
