William Godwin's Diary

Events

Reference unclear: there is a portrait of William Nicholson by Samuel Drummond, renowned for producing good portraits quickly for 5-8 guineas, and that portrait was the basis for an engraving in 1812. It is possible that Godwin is making some reference to the portrait, although Nicholson’s finances were already in so dire a condition it is difficult to see that he could have afforded a portrait at this time.
