Walk to the House of Commons: the Times account of Commons proceedings, printed the next day, shows that most of the time was taken up with debating 'the criminal law of Scotland', in part relating to the draconian sentences passed on those accused of sedition in Scotland. Godwin notes that topic under discussion at the Philomaths meeting the same day was ‘trials’.
