William Godwin's Diary

Events

Reference unclear but there may be some connection with Munnings. The clear period is possibly indicative of a truncation suggesting that Godwin has been in some way derelict with respect to Munnings, whom he visited in New Jail on 5 April 1793 and whose creditor he saw the following day. Munnings seems then to have been released but died on 11 May 1793, possibly from jail fever. Godwin’s self-reprobation may be associated with his writing to an S Munnings, who may have been a relative of the Munnings he visits in jail.
