Godwin’s relationship with John Hollis was always strained, although they continued to associate for some years. Hollis is, however, cited as the source of Joseph Priestley’s largely favourable judgment of Political Justice in the notes that conclude the final volume of Godwin’s diary (see folio 1r of this volume).
