Events

An attempt to settle unrest in Ireland over the imposition of tithes for the benefit of the Protestant Church of Ireland by reducing the income of the clergy but removing the requirement that they were responsible for raising the income from the tithes. This was to be effected by substituting a rent charge payable by the landlord and due to the Crown.
