William Godwin's Diary

Events

This is probably the examination of the bookseller Sir Richard Phillips's finances by the Commission for Bankrupts. William Cobbett, in the Political Register for 10 November 1810, noted that Phillips had been declared bankrupt and defended his reputation. In the Political Register, 12 December 1810, he continued the defence of Phillip's reputation, noting his generosity to "AUTHORS, including, perhaps, ENGRAVERS and other ARTISTS".
