Charles James Fox moved that ‘the African Slave Trade was contrary to justice, humanity, and sound policy, and that the House would adopt measures, as speedily as it was practicable, for its complete Abolition’. He was seconded by Sir Ralph Milbank. The resolution was carried 114-15.
