This is a reference to an operatic performance of 'Medea' by Giuditta Pasta. This is probably the opera Médée, a French language opéra-comique by Luigi Cherubini, with a libretto by François-Benoît Hoffmann based on Euripides' tragedy of Medea and Pierre Corneille's play Médée.
