William Godwin's Diary

Among the musicians in this performance, at the concert hall in Hanover Square, Mayfair managed by Sir John Gallini, was the composer, pianist and teacher Muzio Clementi (1752-1832), an acquaintance of Godwin’s who appears several times in the diary, often alongside Thomas Holcroft and the composer William Shield. Clementi made his final concert appearances in 1790, before devoting himself to teaching.

See The Times, 12 May 1790 for an advertisment including the programme for this concert.
