William Godwin's Diary

Events

An exhibition at New Bond Street of the altarpiece The Madonna and Child with Saints John the Baptist and Jerome (alternatively called The Vision of St Jerome) by the Italian artist Parmigiano (1503 – 1540). At the time of the exhibition, William Sharp was preparing to engrave the painting and subscriptions were being taken on for the print. The original altarpiece was presented by the directors of the British Institution in 1826 and remains in the collection of the National Gallery, London.
