Exhibition of the late Bishop Thomas Newton Bristol’s (1704–1782) pictures at the Great Rooms, late Royal Academy, Pall-Mall, London. A correspondent for The Times attributed approximately twenty-two works to Teniers, ten to Wouvermans, twelve to Bercham, and others to artists of the Italian school. Newton was the first president of the Bristol Library Society and residentiary of St Paul’s Cathedral, London.
