Texts Godwin Read

“This mighty parliament.” (22  November  1826) The item appears to be a quotation, not a title.
In his History of the Commonwealth (6:463-66), WG collects epitaphs on the Barebones Parliament (which sat from 6 December 1648 through 20 April 1653). He cites the following sources:
Whitlocke, Memorials of English Affairs (see annotation of WG's diary ( 1804-07-12) Mrs. Hutchinson, Memoirs of the life of Colonel Hutchinson ( 1812-08-13) Algernon Sidney, Discourses on government ( 1815-09-19) Coke, Detection of the court and state of England ( 1826-11-23) WG reads in the British Museum on this date.
