Amadis, p. 96 (9  April  1817) Montalvo, Garci Ordonez (or Rodriguez) deAmadis of Gaul. 1508 (publication date of first known version by Montalvo, but this is a ‘corrected and emended' text. The poem probably dates from the 13th or 14th century.)
The first English translation was in 1567; Robert Southey translated and abridged it in 1803.
